We were so fortunate to be able to go to Disney again and to see our friends who were able to make it happen. This year we were able to go to “Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween.“ So, while we got to hang out with our friends, we also got to share in Emma’s birthday as well. Man…when it was my birthday, I got a back yard birthday party…not to say there is anything wrong with that, lol. Skylar still gets those too, hee hee… but to say that you get to go trick or treating at Disney for your birthday, hmmm…that takes the cake. So….I have a MILLION PICTURES…sorry.

Skylar and mom are DASH and WONDER WOMAN!! I don’t know if Wonder woman wears a mask, but I had so many left over that I said, why not! We’re actually at the Polynesian Resort here. It’s one of the many nice resorts at Disney.

The gang! The back of Matt’s head had spiders that were drawn on by Katie. It was cool.

Emma is Rapunzel from Tangled. Katie made her costume, minus the hair. Also, the best friend of the Director for Tangled also happened to be there and took a picture of Emma in her costume. She was so impressed and had to send that to her Director friend. How cool is that. I wished I could sew. I would make Skylar’s costumes too!!

This is the candy station. When you saw these through out the park, that means there is candy for the kids and adults!! WE got bags too!!

It started get dark here, so we decided to go to the dance party with Stitch and Goofy. OMG….SO MUCH FUN!!! It reminded me of my college days…sort of, lol.

The music was awesome, like our kind of music that you would want to dance to. They had a DJ and you got to dance with Goofy, Pluto and Stitch!!!

I never laughed so hard when I saw Emma dance and Skylar for that matter.

Then we got a great spot to see the Halloween Parade.

The end of the parade. Then we got some ice-cream and watched the fireworks, which were spectacular!!

I loved all the colors of the castle.

At the Finale of the fireworks, the castle lights turned off and the sky lit up with tons of fireworks. I love this picture.

The park stayed open until midnight. So, then we trick or treated for more candy and came across Woody and Jessie dancing!

At Animal Kingdom. As we were waiting in line to get autographs from Donald Duck and Goofy, one of the Disney staff came over and asked us a few questions and began to sing a song for Skylar. So cute! Of course Skylar was not impressed.

Oh how I love my sweet hubby!! It’s actually his birthday tomorrow, but I get my birthday present early. When you have a little one that takes all the attention, it’s nice to be spoiled rather than to spoil the little man.

First off, I love taking pictures….not professionally by all means, but I love taking pictures of my family, friends…events. Let’s just say, I definitely have graduated from the disposable (aka college days) cameras to my new BFF DSLR camera that I have. Unfortunately, I have been lugging it around in my video camera bag that’s like considered ancient now. Or, I have been toting it in my everyday bag that’s great, but what if…I drop my bag and boom…there goes my camera?

Anyhoo…that’s when I discovered the camera bags at Jo Totes. Wow is all I can say. Affordable and WAY Cute bags. I have been dreaming about one of their bags that they carry for about 4 or 5 months now. Well, recently they introduced a new bag and I just immediately fell for it!

Say hello To Betsy. (that’s actually the name of this bag) Isn’t she pretty? I love my hubby!! My camera with lens attached, 2 others lens (35mm and 55-200mm), my wallet, lip gloss, my playsport video and my phone all fit in there. I could jam a lot of other things as well if I needed too. Also, there is a back pocket that an IPAD or Kindle can fit in. Yep…I’m trying to swing that for Christmas, wish me luck!

We went to King this weekend to celebrate everyone who has birthdays in September and October. So, mom asked that I make a cake and well, my niece Yasmine said it reminded her of a circus cake. Which is actually fitting, lol.

Terry is turning 34 next week.

Zeb’s 5th birthday is a week after Terry’s.

Yasmine’s 11th birthday is a few days after Zeb’s. Holly and Mely’s birthdays are also thrown in there. Sept and October are busy months for us!

While Piper did this, the other cousins did this below. I think she missed out.

We’re always trying to find something to do with Skylar every weekend and forgot that the Natural Science Center is here in Greensboro. So, off we went to see the fun stuff here. We might look into having Skylar’s 5th birthday here next year. I really liked it. There are a lot of neat things to learn and see inside and a mini zoo outside.

Safari Nation Birthday Party

We went to a birthday party at a new kid’s fun place in Greensboro and let’s just say, it was awesome!! Skylar has been invited to parties back to back here recently, so I was actually excited about this place when we got our invite.

The birthday party was held at safari nation. It has everything!! Even a Zebra line aka Zip line.

They have this great snack bar.

The birthday party was held upstairs in the tree house.

The party was for a little girl named, SKYLER! hah She’s a cute thing that also came to Skylar’s party. They went to the same preschool. So, Skylar doe not discriminate against girly cake.

Belle Chere

I have been looking forward to going to Belle Chere in Asheville for about 5 years now. I used to go every year starting from when I was in college on. Well, Belle Chere is held the last weekend of July and guess whose birthday always fall on that same weekend in July? waaah… So, since this year we had 5 weekends in July, we were able to have Skylar’s birthday party the weekend before, yaaaay! I will say this, when we went in the past, we um stayed out much much later. This year we brought Skylar with us, so he could see all the hooplah that I‘ve been raving about.

I think he could be a over acting here, but maybe he was just as excited as we were.

It was HOTTT! My thinking was since we were in the mountains, that the heat would not be as bad. I was wrong. Skylar is drinking a bahama mama I think in a beer cup, but it’s non alcoholic of course.

It’s definitely a different trip this time around, because things changed a lot, but you still have the good ol people of Asheville that I love to be around. You have all walks of life there and no one judges. I love that.

I’m a little behind on blogging, but June and July have both been super busy months and now we’re in August! Better late than never right? So, on to the party details. We had a superhero's theme birthday party for Skylar, as he’s a little superhero himself. He loves dress up. He has several different costumes that he will put on for fun. I had a lot of fun planning this party too. I don’t know what it is, but I love being creative and sure, it does stress me out, but yet again, I love it! It’s all worth it in the end right?

I found these superhero characters on the web and designed Skylar’s invitation, so I can’t take all the credit, lol. Skylar’s picture was taken by my good friend Emily. She did a great job.

THE CAKE-

I scoured the web for cool superhero cakes and saw so many that I thought were awesome. I combined 3 different cake ideas for Skylar’s cake. First off, I love CAKE BOSS! So, I always wanted to work with Rice Krispy treats, but just never had the chance.

I bought the rice krispies (what? you thought I made those? lol) and used about 5 rice krispies to make the fist. I really did not think I could do it. I just molded it all together, to where I thought it resembled a fist. I also made my own fondant and colored it as well.

I added the green shimmer dust (edible) and then finished it up with some edible gel for the creases. I was really impressed with myself, since this was my first time!

This was all done the week before the party. It’s edible, but I didn’t plan for anyone to eat this, so that’s why I made it so far ahead.

This finished product. Spiderman, Batman, Superman and the incredible Hulk punching out of the cake.

Up-close of the spider. had the HARDEST time with the spider, ha! I am not the best at carving, so this was one of the things that had me stumped, lol. I looked for candy spiders too and couldn’t find them.

Attire

Skylar looking cool in his superhero gear. I made the masks for the kids and actually the parents too for favors. I used heavy stiff felt paper bought at Michaels and used a template online for the shape. I found these exact same ones on Etsy for 10 masks for $60! Crazy!! I made 30 some masks for right at 10 dollars, maybe it was less. Score!

Favors

These were super cute and unfortunately, they are the only pictures I have. They are superhero super pop suckers. They have their own masks and capes.

I didn’t get any pictures of the favors at the party, but I did have 1 extra bag for a guest who couldn’t make it. Favors were personalized superhero bags, mask, crazy straw, pop rocks, ring pops (although these are missing from this bag….terry!!), super hero tattoos, pez dispenser and candy stix. All from the Dollar tree!

Location

We had Skylar’s party at the Greensboro Children's Museum and I highly recommend this place for play dates, birthday parties, or for education purposes. We opted for a private room and the room is huge! They provided the tablecloths and lots of tables. I was very happy with them. Although, we only had the room to use for 2 hours, the kids and guest can stay all day at the museum if they wanted.

I like to make photos ops at Skylar’s Parties. I feel sometimes it’s hard to take pictures and this makes it easier...usually. So I painted the city landscape one day on a queen bed sheet. Below are links to his previous parties.

I just realized that I never showed pictures of his photo op from his 2nd birthday. Ooops! Here are a few. I sent their individual pictures with the thank you cards. I got this idea from my fellow blogger and friend, Crystal.

Set up of the Cake area-

Oh, the only complaint about the Children’s Museum that I have, is that you are only given 20 minutes prior to your party to set up. WHAT??? Anyhoo, that explains why I didn’t get the pictures I wanted. Oh well. c'est la vie, right?

The cake table is set up for the most part. The cake back drop is a city landscape that I thought would be a cute “batman theme”. I pulled out some paint and cut up some old card board that was sitting in the garage and painted it. The yellow squares representing windows are posts its.

I also placed candy rocks (chocolate rocks) where the fist is. The kids liked that. I had to place more on the table cloths, so the kids could all get one.

Ok, I’m not a seamstress, so don’t make fun of my concoction of a cape. I made a cape for Terry and I out of 3XL t-shirts that I cut the front out and placed sticky back felt paper for the logo. Tada!! M = super mom and D = super dad for Terry. I love that my mom is helping me here. She’s my super mom.

They did get in trouble with the law though. What’s even funnier is that Skylar opened up the emergency door and the alarm went off. Everyone scattered. (um…it wasn’t me…)

Play crashers-

Terry took these pictures, but told me what happened. Apparently, there was a play being put on by these older kids and well, Skylar and his crew ran up in there and sabotaged it! Then ran out like they did running in. The parent’s I’m sure, weren’t sure if this was part of the play, lol. Now, I’m sure if I saw this, I would have said something to Skylar that this is not nice, but…it was his party and I was not there. So, all good right?

Cat in the hat was there, so kids could sit and listen and meet the Cat himself. :)

Actually before they started to read you could meet the cat and this is another funny series of pictures. Taylor and Skylar saw the cat and wanted to meet him. You see how far back they are. As soon as this picture was taken, they scooted to the front, bypassing everyone in line. Again, I was not here at this time.

Our day out with Thomas

So again, I’m behind on my blogging. I even have pictures back from Christmas 10’ that I haven’t posted yet, which are now very late, because Christmas 11’ is 6 months away WOW! So, I’m going to start with what’s been going on in the last month.

So..We didn’t tell Skylar where we were going, so we said we were going on a surprise trip... To see Thomas that is.

Skylar was not impressed with the long ride as you can see, which really wasn’t that long. We watched a few Thomas movies in the car, since we just so happened to have those DVDs lying around.

Let’s just say, this is the best I got of Skylar. He kept on turning his head to see Thomas and I kept saying, smile for me!! Boys! I can’t blame him though.

Then we went back to the Future. lol.. It looks that way, but no….I had my settings wrong on my camera, which btw…I need major lessons on understanding half the things my camera does! Another time…

Then after the train ride, Skylar and Terry went to jail. It was a crazy day.

Today I took a half day to spend some one on one time with my little guy and because this is the last week that I can either use my days or lose them. Which in a way stinks, because I actually have a lot of days that I will end up losing, waah. I saved so many days over the year for those just incase situations. Oh well.., it’s nothing to complain about that’s for sure. My new rule is to take more vacations!!

Anyhoo, dress up for girls looks like so much fun I’ve noticed. I mean you got princess dresses, cute shoes and all the accessories to match of course! But there is nothing like dressing up as a super hero.

He was directly under the tarp and the sun was hitting it in such a way, that’s he’s slightly green/yellow, hah!

This picture made me realize that maybe we should upgrade to some new swings. We did go to Lowes right afterwards and Skylar of course wore his costume as well with his snow boots for the full effect.

Better not mess with him! He’s Ironman!

Our family outing and search for clues..

Today we participated in the Fink's Diamond Dash downtown Greensboro today. Although it was SUPER cold, we had a fun family outing. It was 300 teams of 2 (or 3 in our case, since we had Skylar in tow) and the object of the game was finding the clues that were texted to our phones and answering them correctly for points. Everyone had the same clues, just not in the same order, so we weren't all following each other, lol. We had to search all over Greensboro (downtown that is) by foot. Meaning no cars, scooters, roller skates....you get the idea.

Oh, the scavenger hunt prize was for a $15,000 Ritani diamond ring hidden somewhere in the downtown area by Fink's jewelers. So, you can see why I REALLY wanted to play, haha. Terry and Skylar was just there to be there.

We tried our best, but in the video below you will see how our 3rd teammate slowed us down a little... lol.

Oh and I might will be famous too, since I was interviewed by the local newspaper. Not sure if they will print it or not. :)

Skylar has been practicing his letters recently and we’re so proud, because he will actually say, “I want to do my homework.” Homework to him is him practicing his letter writing in his write and erase book we got at good ole wally world. He can trace, write and practice his letter writing and he thinks it’s fun!!

Anyhoo, he switches back and forth from left to right, but I think he’s left handed just like me. When he writes with his right hand, the letters aren’t as neat, but when he writes with his left hand, they seem neater and precise. Not that they are perfect, lol… but I can see the differences. I used to be the same way when I was kid, but now I just write or eat with my left hand and I do everything else with my right hand. (sports, cutting with the scissors, drinking from the cup…) It’s fun to watch him and see what he will end up being.

What are you and are your kids a lefty or a righty?

It cracks me up how he holds his marker. I try to show him a more comfortable way, but he doesn't want to listen to me.

Soccer Sunday…That’s the real sport of the weekend…

Darn “Targheels”!!

So, we started soccer today. We were supposed to start last Sunday, but we were rained out, so we were very excited (“we” as in me) to play today. I take that back, Skylar was excited too, just as long as he got a prize afterwards. What’s up with that? UGH! Anyhoo…Skylar is a very shy boy at first, so of course I expected a little clinginess. I think as we continue to play this season, he will love it. I got a lot of “I don’t want to play, because my belly hurts” or “my knee hurts.” ALREADY, at 3 years of age! I did get some “action” shots though.

This was the beginning of the practice/game. He was really into it, only because he didn’t have to to play with the other kids yet.

It was go time here. He was focused and ready. hahah

This is really how the game went once we finished practicing. Skylar had his back to the kids, some kids were on the ground picking grass and then you have kids who think they are playing basketball. It should be an interesting season to say the least.

That’s what I think of every time Skylar puts his Star Warz helmet on. It’s too funny. Skylar got this for Christmas and I laugh every time he puts it on. It’s a little top heavy, don’t you think?

This helmet is actually pretty cool. It has a voice disguiser, so Skylar likes using that and talking to us and being silly. Oh, and don’t mind his mix matched pajamas and breakfast stained shirt. jeeesh. Typical at our household though.

Lazy Saturday

We didn’t do a thing today, except watch the game..actually, I watched bits and pieces, but mainly stayed outside with Skylar. I’m still a die hard Tar heel fan though. As Skylar would say, “Go Targheels”. I guess he’s thinking of Target and yes, that’s one of my favorite stores.

See that picture in the background? Yeah, well I bought it about 4 weeks ago and we finally put it up today. So, this is Skylar playing with his tools in the room when he saw that his daddy brought his in there as well. See, we get around to doing things.

Yep, I swear I clean his mouth, but he tends to always have something on his face. Messy eater.

Skylar is so easy to take pictures of now. He will smile all the time for me, BUT I have to snap them quick, because I will get this as well.

This always cracks me up, because I tend to make this face too.

But, I always get my favorite picture after about 1 million shots.

Tomorrow we start soccer, I hope he likes it! I’ll keep you posted.

A couple weekends back my BFF Kelly came down from PA to visit and our other friends Emily and Jennifer made their way to our house too, so we could all catch up with each other and our children.

This ~~little~~ big guy is Jennifer’s 6 month old. He was a sweet and happy camper. Skylar didn’t mind holding on to him. Sweet huh?

Seriously, the best I could get of Crawford (Emily's son) and Skylar was this below. I can’t believe I didn’t get any of Caroline (Emily’s 10 mth old).

It was a fun visit. I miss my friends. I do wished we lived closer together.

One of my BFF’s sent me her pictures of the mural that she painted (no tracing) by hand with NO help from anyone, as a stay at home mom, who has a very active 16 month old son and a 5 year old girl in preschool 4 days (that are 1/2 days) out of the week. Um….can you say wonder woman…She’s amazing….oh and she did this in 5 days. I kid you not! She painted from floor to ceiling on all the walls, “Where The Wild things are”.

So, she inspired me to finally get off my bootay and paint the sign that I have been talking about for over a year now in Skylar’s room. Ta-da….it took me about 3 hours….that would be me, eating cookies, watching tv with Terry, going back in the room to paint a line, then playing with Skylar, then painting another line and then finishing it. Yep 3 hours…. Whoooo, I did it. ok ok…I’m not like my amazing artist friend…but hey….at least it inspired me right?

Wow, what can I say? MIA for sure… let’s see for the excuses, hmmm… laziness, sickness, boredom, non picture taking, remodeling, some picture taking, writers block, DVR catch ups (Loving One Tree Hill again), laziness, losing 7 lbs in 1 day from sickness, then was happy!!!, then gained those 7 lbs back, then was sad and then laziness. Oh and the computer died on me for 2 weeks and I just got it back.

On Friday, I asked Skylar if I could listen to his heart and he said no (meanie), but then he put his hand on his heart and stated the pledge of allegiance. What? I had no clue that he knew that. :)

So, on the car ride back from King today, I asked him to say it again and he whispered it, so I said for him to do it a little louder for the video and this is what I got. lol.

So, since I received my promo code for the 50 free shutterfly cards, I needed new pictures to showcase us all. The past 3 years, it was always all about Skylar on the cards and don’t get me wrong, he’s definitely the best looking of us 3, but I feel like we should be in our cards too, ah!

So, we went to the new Botanical Gardens a mile from our house and we started to snap away. Even Terry took some pictures. We had several good shots, but not to bore you all, here are the ~~few~~ several pictures that I liked a lot.

Marker the Elf is on the loose…

Recently we received a package from the North Pole and Skylar was eager to open it, I mean… it did come from Santa himself and all.

This package travelled all over the world before it was delivered to us.

Santa even left Skylar a message.

Inside was a book and Santa’s elf that will be watching Skylar through out the day and who will report to Santa at the North Pole at night. Skylar named him Marker , but appropriately so. Marker will be “marking” him naughty or nice. (actually I think there was a marker or pen that was nearby and that’s how he came up with that original name, ha)

Skylar knows that everyday when Marker returns he will be in a new spot in the house. So Skylar has to be aware that Marker is always watching.

Making cakes during my birthday weekend…

I made the bear as a present to her son. She didn’t ask for it, but I thought it was cute. It’s made out of gumpaste.

On Halloween day we went to the Children’s Museum in Greensboro, because I heard they were doing a parade and all the kids dress up. So, we went there to join the fun. I will say this, I didn’t read the fine print and we missed most of the activities that went on earlier that day. So, we did make it for the parade, aha!

Skylar is so shy. I guess he gets that from me. I am shy if I don’t know you…but if I do know you…I can’t shut up. Poor guy wouldn’t stand there with all the other kids and smile.

Promise him candy if he will smile, then you’re good to go.

I haven’t been to the Children’s Museum in a while, because they added so much new stuff and this train was one of the main attractions for Skylar.

He loved it and got so irritated if he had to share with another kid.

Last weekend, Terry and I went back to our college roots to cheer on Western when they played our other mountain rivals….APP State. UGH…I would like to say that the outcome was in our favor…but…what do they say? “You can’t win them all!” Or any at all, ha! Poor Western. They’re not doing so well this year, or in the fast few or several years. I will say that our school has changed so much since we graduated. Of course I always knew it was beautiful, but it’s just breath taking scenery. They added so much to the school there. It’s completely different, but in a good way. I miss it soo much! Such good memories were made there. The friends I met, the Sorority I joined and the husband I found.

We went to the same farm we went to last year and they added a few more things. We love this farm for all the fun things they provide.

We went through the corn maze this time. Skylar thought it was fun.

They had several corn mills that you could go in and play in. I went in there with Skylar too. It’s like walking in quick sand, but with corn kernels. :) I sort of …kind of….want one of these. It’s fun!

10-10-10 Happy 10th Birthday Yassie!

I offered to have my niece's birthday/slumber party at our house this past Saturday. We had 6, 10 year olds, 2 teenagers and my adult sister as well as Terry, Skylar and I. It was full house of laughter, screams, running around and makeovers….oh, did I mention Justin Bieber. Good lord….there was that. Back in my day, our “Justin” was none other than Justin Timberlake. Oh JT…..ha! Times haven’t really changed, I guess. I actually like the “new” Justin’s song that’s out, ahah! I’m such a tween wannabe. You do know that I love Twilight and Harry Potter right? Or the time that I waited at Barnes and Noble for my new book at midnight when Terry was deployed to Iraq right?…I told you that story didn’t I? Well….I waited in line for 2 hours (beginning at midnight) while ahem….everyone was dressed up as wizards and witches and running around casting spells and eatings Bertie Bott’s Every Flavlor bean (aka…sometimes good jelly beans). Anyhoo….I played it cool, since I was by myself. I don’t think they suspected a thing. :) I sort of wished I had my maroon and gold colors on, because I am so a Gryffindor kid. Man, can you tell that I am excited for the next movie to come out next month?

Back to my way cool party that I helped throw. Actually Mely, my sister threw it and she thought of everything. Yasmine had a great time. She turned 10 on 10-10-10. Crazy huh? The party went on until 6 in da mornin….poor Terry and I were out at 11. I’m surprised we didn’t wake up with whip cream on our face. Did you ever fall asleep first at a sleepover? I did one time and I never did it again. I woke up with lipstick and blush smeared all over my face, ahah! At the time..I was not happy. :)

I made this cake for Yassie. I know the #10 is ginormous. Well…her birthday is 10-10-10…ok really, I just didn’t realize how big the topper was, until I placed it on the cake and I was like ….ooops… It’s chocolate ganache and white vanilla cake with butter cream icing. I added chopped up banana to the batter for the top tier. The black icing is chocolate butter cream. I also added fondant accents and the topper is made from gumpaste.

Ok, the topper is a little heavy….tim-ber….

On the menu was cake, ice cream, chips, cookies, candy…candy…candy

Cady (Yasmine’s step-sister) share the same birthday and I forgot… oooops, so they blew out the candles together. Yasmine turned 10 and Cady turned 18! Cady helped chaperone the party on her birthday. That’s true love there!

Before I went to sleep, I took a few pictures of the girls conducting “makeovers” in the bathroom. They were so cute, doing each other’s hair, makeup, pedicures, manicures….

We had a breakfast feast! Although, you can’t see everything here, we had eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, biscuits, muffins and cereal. OH and Tons of coffee…well for the big kids that really need it and can’t hang with the little kids.

Skylar got a much needed hair cut! He looks so different. I love this new cut. I think we will try to maintain this look. Oh…it never fails that I always take a picture of him with food on his face. ;)

We ran into one of my favorite people from HS, Brad. I was able to meet Amelia, (Brad and Kendra’s daughter( for the first time as well. She’s such a sweetheart. It was a nice reunion! Miss you Brad!!

Last day at Disney and Downtown Disney with Amber

Our last day was spent with Amber. She took us to Magic Kingdom one last time and she showed us to different resorts. She was a great tour guide.

We went on the boat to travel to the different resorts.

Grand Floridian…very nice resort. I want to stay here so bad…maybe we will another time. :)

We were at the Polynesian Hotel here.

We then went to the Wilderness Lodge where at one point we had planned to stay at, that is until out friends Matt and Katie, so conveniently moved down there at the right time. This resort has everything and it’s so much fun. Skylar rode a pony while we were there and he loved it so much. This was the first time he rode one and he wasn't scared one bit!

Man he was sooo happy!!

Then he had to get off the pony and this is the face I got then…so sad…

That’s ok, we then left and went back to the resorts to get back to our car and go to Downtown Disney. See, we have smiles again. Plus we’re riding a bus and he’s never rode a bus before. We had a lot of firsts this week.

This place is great. You don’t need a park ticket to go here. This is basically like boardwalk at the beach (Myrtle Beach), but 10 times better. :)

They had a lego area, very cool!! Kids could play and build things while they waited to go eat.

We were pretty excited about this restaurant. Skylar loves dinosaurs, dragons, fish…. This place was all that and more!

The dinosaurs moved and were big inside.

They had a few Aquarians in this dining room there that were 40K each. :) We were sitting in the rain forest room that had meteor showers every 15 minutes. It was cool! Every dining room was awesome there. They had another one that was a ice room, but not really. It was so cool. No matter where you sat, you were happy.

Amber and I enjoying some margaritas! You see Skylar’s drink on the right? He woke up angry from his nap prior to arriving at the restaurant and we got him this frozen kid’s drink that we could keep the bone cup and he was fine from there. Kids are so smart… Or us parent’s just give in….

Ok, this cake is supposed to look messy and not perfect. Or that’s just me being lazy and not wanting to try so hard…either or. So, Terry’s birthday is technically tomorrow, but I made the cake today and Terry did not want to wait. I can’t eat this unfortunately, because I have gained a little weight this year… MORE LIKE 12 WHOLE LBS since January. (Darn you cakes!!!) I mean…..Dang! Anyhoo, Terry loves Nutella and he loves chocolate, so while on my diet, I constantly think of food. Like…all the time. Back to my story..I thought of this cake that I was going to make for him. This cake is chocolate cake with chopped up banana and walnuts mixed in. I made the filling of nutella and regular creamy peanut butter mixed into vanilla butter cream ….heaven. Then of course I made the frosting chocolate butter cream, then I topped it with a chocolate ganache glaze with pecans on top.

Skyar was so excited and he still had dinner to eat, so once I told him that he needed to eat his food first, he ate quickly.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY! (honey….hmm? I bet I can make some kind of cake filling mixed with honey)

Hollywood Studios

We came to Hollywood Studios on Thursday and loved it! Yes, it was hot this day too, lol! We went inside a lot for different attractions.

We were ready for fun, because this is where Buzz was at.

I loved seeing all the film related decorations and statues.

There was a “busted” fire hydrant here that Skylar ran through a few times.

We were walking through the “city” and I thought this little side vendor sign was funny.

We waited for 60 minutes for this “Buzz Lightyear” ride (Toy Story Mania attraction), becasue all the fast passes were given out for the day, ugh! This ride was totally worth it though. Skylar was in heaven!! While we were waiting in line, they had all these cool toy story props everywhere.

After we went on the ride, it was time for the afternoon block party parade. They stopped and danced for seriously an hour in the road. Oh yeah, it was hot....did I tell you that. I got the craziest flip flop tan on my feet!

Hey Woody!

Skylar finally watched Monsters Inc this week and he loves it. I kind of wished he watched this movie before we went. It would have made the parade that much more for him.

Our friends met up with us during the afternoon. We were so happy to see them!

BECAUSE...that meant Terry and I were able to ride this, since Katie and Matt were watching Skylar. This ride was awesome!! If you go here, then you have to ride the “Tower of Terrors”.

Animal Kingdom

Ok this day, we were just plain exhausted and it happened to be the hottest of all days. I heard one of the park guys say that the heat index was 109….I took that as SUPER HOT!! So, we came to this park super excited, but left after about 3 hours. I was too tired to take any pictures, well many. Skylar and Terry looked at the huge fruit bats, while I sat down in the shade gulping down my water. The humidity was horrible!! I did learn from this trip that we need to go to Disney the months of Oct to April/May. We did see the 3d attraction, It’s tough to be a bug. That was awesome. Skylar loved it and I did too. It was pretty neat and of course, cool because it was indoors. We saw the Lion King show too. We missed out on the safari ride that everyone said we need to go on. Man, I’m so bummed just thinking about it now. Our next trip will be to Animal Kingdom first!

Little Trip to Washington, NC

Last month I was asked to sing in my college (DZ sista) friend’s wedding. It was in a little town called Washington. Yep, I never heard of this town too, but it’s a little town that’s near Greenville. If you ever have to drive through, you should stop. Anyways, I used to sing a lot back in the day and well I was excited and thrilled that I was asked to sing in her wedding that is until I realized that I am ~~scared to death~~, ~~petrified~~, ~~crapping my pants,~~ not really comfortable to sing in front of people anymore. As the days were leading up to her wedding, I was getting more uncomfortable. I was happy that Terry and Skylar came to the wedding with me. We did have a fun Saturday touring the town. It kept my mind off things so to speak.

The wedding itself was held outdoors and was at the waterfront. It had gorgeous views. I couldn't see Terry or Skylar, but when I began to sing, Skylar let everyone around him know that his mommy was singing. Terry said he was grinning from ear to ear and he was so proud of me. :) That just melts my heart. normally in the car he tells me to stop screaming, so it made me feel good. Also…good news is that I didn’t pass out and I actually finished the song. ;)

Bad news is, that I’m hanging up my grammy seeking career now.

Epcot

We went to Epcot on our 3rd and 4th days. Again, since we had park hopper tickets, we jumped around a lot through out the day. I actually loved Epcot. I was thinking it would be the most boring, but it had everything and apparently, most adults like Epcot more, or so I read. You can drink in the park, actually you can drink in all the parks except Magic Kingdom. Anyways, with all the different worlds, you can drink what that country offers. I didn’t really get to take advantage of this, lol because it was so hot and I didn’t want to dehydrate myself. I did on the other hand drank a frozen mango, strawberry and lime margarita. :) Epcot is 3 times the size of Magic Kingdom, so there is a lot to see. I definitely want to go back to this one. We didn’t get to ride the rides everyone talked about, because first off, I don’t like riding rides by myself (our friends couldn't hang out with us everyday) and Skylar couldn’t ride these rides, because he was a tad under 40”. Disney is strict about that. He is 39 1/2” inches. dang….

Day(s)at Magical Magic Kingdom

The passes we had at Disney were courtesy of Amber, my best friend from high school. She works at Disney (7 years now) and has her perks as a manager there. She really saved us tons of dollars. We were able to have park hopper tickets daily. It was amazing!! We went to Magic Kingdom basically everyday, but only stayed one night to see the fireworks there. So these pictures are from the different days there. We tried to do all the things we read about on each day, so we didn’t miss anything. Magic Kingdom is definitely the best when it comes to entertaining little ones, so keep that in mind if you ever go. All the parks are fabulous, but this one caters more to kids.

I made the cake as his birthday gift. :) If he’s anything like Skylar, then he has every toy under the moon. So, making a cake for him was more fun to give. Their theme was a Fishing theme! We had a great time. The weather was perfect!! I didn’t even sweat! That’s amazing considering the past few weekends have been harsh!

He reeled it in and “sort of” touched it before it was thrown back in. He caught 2 fish (a bass and a brim) within 10 minutes. :) Then we quit while we were ahead. :)

The birthday cake (top layer is white vanilla and chocolate butter cream filling, bottom layer is white vanilla cake with cookies and cream vanilla butter cream filling). Everything is edible except the wire holding the bobber and the fishing rod.

Crawford was so cute and ready to blow out his candle for the second time. One of his friend’s beat him to it the first time. :)
