Dragon…
Two weekends ago, Skylar went to see his first real movie in the theater, How to Train Your Dragon. He loved it and so did I actually. It was about 2 hours long and Skylar sat through it all, except for the last 20 to 30 minutes. He had to go to the bathroom and wouldn’t use the bathrooms there. I think he’s scared of public bathrooms, so he will hold it if he has to. I hate that. :) So, he would sit there and watch for 2 minutes and then tell me he had to go to the bathroom. So, I sort of missed the last 20 minutes of the movie.
Side note-We are definitely potty trained. We do put pull ups on him at night and 5 nights out of 7, he wakes up dry. He doesn’t wear pull ups during nap time at daycare either, so that’s great.
Anyways, Skylar loves dragons, dinosaurs, sharks, fish…. and so when he woke up Easter Sunday, he was very happy!
He got tons of Dragons and dinosaurs from Maw Maw, Paw Paw and the Easter Bunny!
OH…..someone loves these.
Guess who?

Success…
I got good reviews at our Easter function. Well, except for my niece. She mentioned that I left the cake out too long, because the flowers were hard, lol. Just so you know, royal Icing dries hard immediately when the air hits it. :) It’s great for flowers, writing and leaves. It’s pure sugar really. She’s so funny.

Cakes
I have finished my 2nd cake course and below is my finale cake. The thing was, my last class was today and Terry left to go to Marion with Skylar, so I could go to my class and run errands in peace. Well….As I was getting ready to walk out the door, I couldn’t find my keys. This is normal for me, so I didn’t think anything of it when I was looking everywhere for them. After frantically searching everywhere, I decided to call Terry (he was already a mile from the Marion exit at this point) and sure enough, he had my keys in Skylar’s bag. Of course he had my spare keys as well. So, I didn’t learn all the things that I was supposed to learn today, like the basket weave technique, the rope border and flower assembly.
Considering all that, I think my cake turned out nicely, even though I had to basically just look at the book for instructions. I love making flowers though!! It’s so much fun!

Up-close of the color flow butterfly.
(The cake is french vanilla, with almond/vanilla white, yellow and green butter cream frosting with a chocolate ganache filling. The flowers are royal icing and the butter fly is color flow icing.)
Also, this past Thursday was the Relay for Life cake raffle, that Terry signed me up for at his work….ugh! I don’t mind making cakes (practice cakes, as I call them) for my family and friends, but this was for a cake raffle. So, that means people were…. gasp….bidding for my cake. To my surprise, I came in 3rd place. 1st place sold for 70 dollars, (carrot cake from Maxi B Bakery), 2nd place sold for 60 dollars (German Chocolate cake that was bought by 2 people) and 3rd place was me!!! It sold for 40 dollars. I was ecstatic!! I was just hoping that someone would have bid on it, so they didn’t give it back to Terry at the end of the day. I used some of the flowers that I have been making for my class. (I mean, I made a ton….so why not use them.) The person who bought it, has her mother coming in this weekend for Easter. She’s a breast cancer survivor, so this cake fit perfectly for them. I hope they like it. I’m biting my nails on this one.
(It’s regular white Cake, with white, yellow and purple butter cream, with royal icing flowers and again chocolate ganache filling.)
Recent Pics
We didn’t think it would be as hot as it was and didn’t think about the sunscreen until later and well…Skylar is what you call….WHITE. Or Fair skin, lol. I never have to worry about this. If I ever got burned, it would be my nose. My hubby on the other hand….he turns into a lobster as well. Like father like son, right?
Here are a few pictures from the park yesterday. Also, this was pre-sun burn.
Skylar is the biggest dare devil. He loves slides and the taller they are, the better!
Happy Spring All!

Happy Birthday Logan!
On Saturday, we went to see our dear friends Jamie and Kevin to help celebrate their sweet daughter Logan's 1st birthday! She was too cute. Skylar had a blast of course. Anywhere, where there is cake, sign him up!
Skylar draws, colors and writes with both hands, but he throws with his left. I think we have a lefty, just like his mom! He was throwing balls, acorns, corn hole…. all at mom and dad of course, lol.
Ty on the left was being too cute. When he was playing with his dad on corn hole, he made it nearly impossible for his dad to win. His sister Camy is younger than Skylar but could totally beat him up, if she wanted to, aha! She played with the big boys and wore sunglasses the whole time. She is such a hoot to be around. Sometimes when she wasn’t looking up, she would grab my legs and hold on. Then she would look up at me and then walk away, when she realized I wasn’t Layla, ha! Where’s the love, I ask?
Clean and before she dug into the cake and then after she got into the cake. I think she was pretty happy.
Happy Birthday Logan! Thanks for inviting us!
