At 7:30 this morning and the snow is still coming down hard, Ralph and Skylar (who calls the snow ice cream for some reason) were checking out the snow.

Welcome Baby Piper!

My niece Piper Calais (pronounced ka-lay) Mathis was born on January 20th, 2010.  Such a pretty and sweet little baby girl.  We finally got to see them yesterday, only because we’re basically an hour away, the weekends are the only times I can see family.  She has blue eyes (I’m hoping they will stay), two big dimples, dark brown hair and the sweetest grin.  I came armed with my camera of course.  Enjoy the pictures.  :)

Silly Skylar…

While Daddy is rocking out on guitar hero, Skylar rocks out on the drums in his own “rock out” gear!

Oh, Ralph and I sing and dance.  So, we’re taking our act on the road.  Wish us luck!  :)

Happy New Years Eve!

We hope everyone has a great New Years!!!

As a New Year beginnings list, we’re trying some things at our household to bring in the New Year.  Skylar is strictly wearing “underwears” now, unless it’s night time or nap time.  For the next few days, we are working only with this.  Skylar is actually doing very well pottying and he has been for a while.  He does both (you knows) for us, but sometimes if we forget to ask him if he needs to go, he doesn’t remind us until it’s too late.  :) So, I’m hoping that he will be strictly diaper free during the day and only going through 10 or less diapers a week until we don’t use any at all.  Wish us luck!!

Oh and we now transitioned his crib to a toddler bed….today.  I really don’t know why we considered this, Lol.  He is not happy (that’s an understatement) right now, as I’m listening to the monitor.  It’s nap time at the moment (I don’t think he thinks that though).  If you know Skylar, he does not take naps ANYWHERE, unless he’s in his crib.  So…we are trying to get him used to sleeping in a bed.  So, when we go on beach trips, he will be ok sleeping in a bed.  I used to joke that I would keep him in his crib, until he graduates High School, but since we have a few days to stay at home and relax, we’re going to try it now.  I think the next few days will be sleepless nights for all, except Ralph.  He could sleep through a Volcano eruption.  Again…wish us luck.

Here are a few pictures of Skylar (before crib bed to toddler bed transition) when he was happy.  :)

We love the new towels we got for Christmas.  This is a cute one that Aunt Ging Ging sent all the way from Egypt.  Ok, she ordered it online and it was shipped here, but she paid for it in Egypt, so technically, it’s an Egyptian towel, hee hee.

I so thought, I had this in the bag…

I have seen a lot of blog friends and FB friends post pictures of their ginger bread houses and so I thought, I can do this too!  Right?  Ok…maybe not.  During one of our breaks from playing in the snow, we decided to make this sweet looking house that was pictured on the box.  I wished I could say that Skylar and Ralph did this all on their own…but mommy and daddy decided to help as well….so let’s just say it did not turn out the best.  That’s an understatement.

We were um…more excited to go outside, so we rushed through this.  :)  That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.

STEP 2

That icing is a lot thicker than I thought it would be.  (confidence is slowly going down at this point).  Skylar was doing a great job though by eating a piece of candy and then placing a piece of candy on the house.  (His thoughts were like this, “One for me, one for you…”)

LOL… soon after I took this picture, the roof fell apart.  The front tree had it too.

Loving the snow!!

 Skylar-snow

black and white skylar

I am so excited that I can finally enjoy the snow with my family.  The last few times (which are really not very often) it would snow, but guess who had to to go to work and not enjoy it…yep…me.  :(  So, with this snow happening on a weekend, well…that was just perfect!!  Skylar loves the snow too!! truck

Skylar used his dump truck to help move the snow.

Then he rode out on it like a trooper.
