Hot and Humid….Happy Birthday Skylar!

  Oh my gosh, I say this every year, but this time his birthday party was on seriously, the hottest day of the year!!  Just walking outside, I started to sweat.  So needless to say…I was looking hot….literally, ha!  Above is the banner I made.  His theme was planes trains and automobiles.  Oh….we finally got a fence for the back yard!  It took us 2 years, but … we got one.  :)

I made these invites and individually cut each one to look like an actual ticket.  I can’t take all the credit though, I found the design on the web and just did my sneaky work in photoshop to make them my own.  :)   A funny story that I thought I should mention, is that my mom thought I was sending her a plane ticket to go somewhere when she opened it up.  That is until she actually read the ticket. :)  Gotta love Nanny!

The cake that I worked on all day Friday to make my little man’s eyes light up.  He was so excited and kept saying, “That’s my cake!!  Everything was edible too, except for the wires holding the balloon letters and the airplane candle holders.  I made the trains and the car the weekend before out of fondant.  I actually got several people asking me to make cakes for their upcoming events after I posted it on FB, lol.  Who knows, maybe I can have a side business.  :)

I’m so sad that I didn’t get the shots I wanted from the party, but there is always next year.  Thanks To Kelly though, she did take pictures with my camera when I was busy hosting. :)  Look how hot he looks here.   I found his shirt at Target and thought it was appropriate for the theme of his party.  It had all modes of transportation by Tonka.  :)  I got lucky with this one too, since I forgot to buy him a personalized birthday shirt in advance, ahah!

 

We had fresh blueberries picked by Skylar’s G-ma (Skylar’s maw maw’s mom).  He loved them!!

The entertainment was the big dino bounce house and all of Skylar’s outside toys, which also included water guns.  There were a few water gun fights being held.  I don’t think anyone minded if they got hit though.  Again, it was like 103 degrees!

The gift bags were water guns (totally appropriate), bubbles (everyone loves them), transportation suckers (airplanes, trains or cars), silly band bracelets (all modes of transportation) and Rice Krispies (no reason, only because they are awesome).  We also had books for the little ones.  I made my labels for the bags as well.  I’m not so good with the alignment for the round ones, lol.

     

I wished you could see the food here in person.  We of course, provided the pizza, fresh watermelon, chips, the cake and most of the drinks (lemonade, water, juice boxes, sodas and “daddy’s juice”)

We also had this on the menu too- (all courtesy of my mom’s friends)  They are always invited!!

After we ate, I heard from several kids, that they wanted to cut into the cake and so I finally said ok, it’s time for cake!

I can’t believe Skylar is 3 years old.  The time has really flown by.  People say that all the time and you don’t really think about it, until it happens and it really does go by fast.  He’s so funny one moment and can be quite mean the next, but he’s absolutely perfect to us.

On Friday night, we went to a 30th birthday bash at the WS Dash game and we won!  We stayed at the party deck and  had unlimited food and non alcoholic drinks for the night and we got dash hats.  We had a great time.  We brought Skylar and it was his first ever baseball game.  He did pretty well…I mean he couldn’t stay still, but there was a lot going on, so I don’t blame him one bit. 

 

Kim finally joined the club.  The wonderful world of 30’s!

 

Skylar wasn’t sure about “Bolt” at first, but then changed his mind and gave him five.  He called him red monster after that and would wave at him.   

  

Skylar wore his hat.  It was slightly big….

We even saw the fireworks after the game that were totally worth it the drive to W-S!  Skylar had his fingers in his ears the whole time, but he wasn’t scared one bit. 

Beach Bound with the Usual Suspects

Ok, this post is a good month late, but what can I say?  Lazy?  Sick?  Too tired to blog and upload pictures from a long day at work?  Let’s go with the first one. :)  Last month, we went to Oak Island with our good friends and their children for a few days of relaxation.  Skylar had a wonderful time!  We all did really!

I couldn’t capture this all on my camera, but thought it was cute.   (Usual Suspects 2010)

On our way to OIB, Skylar was entertaining me with his comedic skills as Terry drove.   

Skylar feels right at home at the beach.  He loves the water.  I swear the kid has no fear. 

Logan loved the beach and the sand too.  These pictures are before she rolled all in the sand, lol. She even had a few “sand”wiches too…..haha…see I have comedic skills too!

Since Skylar was waking up at the crack of dawn at the beach….by the way, he never wakes up before 9 at home, but at the beach… 6AM….I was like…. **$^$%$^!!  We decided to go to the dock and watch the sunrise.  :)

 

Skylar loved our persistent new friend that followed us all around the dock.  I guess he was hoping we would jump in the water to be “his” snack.  It was funny…but I was not about to go in the water. There were crabs everywhere.  

It was nice, we had this as our backyard view.  It was great!!

There was also a hammock that Skylar and Terry would relax on.  Ahhh, the beach life!

Now, don’t get me wrong…we partied it up at night when the kids were asleep.  Check out our band!  I can’t remember the name of the band now, but Kevin made it known that he was the face of the band, lol!  He rocked it on the mic!!

 

Camryn is so pretty, don’t you think?  She finally warmed up to me the last day we were there. She even let me pick her up….which by the way…Skylar is the skinniest kid!!  Ty, Cam’s brother, let me tell you is the sweetest thing!  He flirted a little my way or a lot….  what can I say, I still got it.  lol…  Actually, he’s going to be a charmer when he gets older.  Skylar and Ty shared the same room at the house we stayed at.  We had brought the video monitor to make sure Skylar was ok during his “first ever sleep over” with another person beside me or terry and he did great…..well, except when he thought the coast was clear.  The first night, he sat straight up in bed…looked at Ty and said, “Let’s get up…let’s eat ice cream!!”.  Yep….caught!

     

     Skylar and Logan got along pretty well too.  He would treat her as a little sister.  They were reading…or something and having a conversation that I have no idea what was so funny.  It was a fun trip and I miss it already!!
