Happy New Years Eve!

We hope everyone has a great New Years!!!

As a New Year beginnings list, we’re trying some things at our household to bring in the New Year.  Skylar is strictly wearing “underwears” now, unless it’s night time or nap time.  For the next few days, we are working only with this.  Skylar is actually doing very well pottying and he has been for a while.  He does both (you knows) for us, but sometimes if we forget to ask him if he needs to go, he doesn’t remind us until it’s too late.  :) So, I’m hoping that he will be strictly diaper free during the day and only going through 10 or less diapers a week until we don’t use any at all.  Wish us luck!!

Oh and we now transitioned his crib to a toddler bed….today.  I really don’t know why we considered this, Lol.  He is not happy (that’s an understatement) right now, as I’m listening to the monitor.  It’s nap time at the moment (I don’t think he thinks that though).  If you know Skylar, he does not take naps ANYWHERE, unless he’s in his crib.  So…we are trying to get him used to sleeping in a bed.  So, when we go on beach trips, he will be ok sleeping in a bed.  I used to joke that I would keep him in his crib, until he graduates High School, but since we have a few days to stay at home and relax, we’re going to try it now.  I think the next few days will be sleepless nights for all, except Ralph.  He could sleep through a Volcano eruption.  Again…wish us luck.

Here are a few pictures of Skylar (before crib bed to toddler bed transition) when he was happy.  :)

We love the new towels we got for Christmas.  This is a cute one that Aunt Ging Ging sent all the way from Egypt.  Ok, she ordered it online and it was shipped here, but she paid for it in Egypt, so technically, it’s an Egyptian towel, hee hee.

I so thought, I had this in the bag…

I have seen a lot of blog friends and FB friends post pictures of their ginger bread houses and so I thought, I can do this too!  Right?  Ok…maybe not.  During one of our breaks from playing in the snow, we decided to make this sweet looking house that was pictured on the box.  I wished I could say that Skylar and Ralph did this all on their own…but mommy and daddy decided to help as well….so let’s just say it did not turn out the best.  That’s an understatement.

We were um…more excited to go outside, so we rushed through this.  :)  That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.

That icing is a lot thicker than I thought it would be.  (confidence is slowly going down at this point).  Skylar was doing a great job though by eating a piece of candy and then placing a piece of candy on the house.  (His thoughts were like this, “One for me, one for you…”)

Loving the snow!!

I am so excited that I can finally enjoy the snow with my family.  The last few times (which are really not very often) it would snow, but guess who had to to go to work and not enjoy it…yep…me.  :(  So, with this snow happening on a weekend, well…that was just perfect!!  Skylar loves the snow too!! truck

Skylar used his dump truck to help move the snow.

Then he rode out on it like a trooper.

Less than two weeks..

It will soon be Christmas.  What??… and yet I am so far behind and have way too much to do.  We haven’t even seen Santa yet!!  I’m still in the process of making my Christmas cards, but maybe they will be New Years cards.  :)  So, there is still time then, right?  Let’s just go with that, so the stress levels go down.

Go Panthers!!

While I visited with my friend Katie in Hickory, Terry and Skylar went to the Panther’s Game to meet up with Katie’s hubby Matt and their daughter Emma. I got to spend time with baby Jack and had some majorly needed girl time myself. I brought my camera and just totally forgot to take pictures of adorable Jack too. UGH… Next time.

So, below are a couple of pictures that Terry took at the game. Go Panthers! They won…shockingly.

Can you say Nose Bleeds? Skylar didn’t care though, because he had his sucker and of course his daddy.

Love the Holidays!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family.  We really did and unfortunately for my jeans, I did not follow my rule of only one helping of food and dessert at each gathering, which in total were 3!  I um….ate just a little more than I meant to.  That’s ok though, because ……….ok I have no excuse, but it sure was nice and yummy!

On Thanksgiving Thursday, we travelled to Asheville during the day and then came back to Marion to visit with Terry’s family on both sides to eat and catch up!  Unfortunately, I have no pictures.  :(  It’s hard to take pictures, eat and run after your toddler that wants nothing to do with Thanksgiving food.  I think he ate 1 corn on a cob for lunch and dinner combined, oh and of course cranberry dressing.  Whoops add two bites of a roll and you got a Thanksgiving feast!  I will say that he ate part of a bologna biscuit for breakfast from biscuitville.  So, it’s not like we didn’t try.  We just have the pickiest toddler!!

Flash-forward to Saturday, we had Thanksgiving at our house.  A while back, my family divvied out who hosts which Holidays and I got Thanksgiving. :)  I chose Saturday’s for our gatherings, because everyone is always traveling or working on Thanksgiving.  So, I thought it would be easier to just have it on Saturday.  We had of course, WAY too much food!  Oh and it’s so yummy too!!  I’m thinking leftovers for at least 3 days.  :P

Christmas tree

We also got up the Christmas tree on Friday.  We actually bought us a fake one this year.  I think in the next few years, this will payoff. :)  I am usually a real tree kind of girl, but I love it!  It’s tall and full.

I didn’t get to capture all the moments, because it was nice to relax and eat through out the day.  A lot of people fell asleep through out the day too.  I thought that was so sweet.  Of course, NONE of the kids were sleeping.
