Fever, fun and painting.. not all at the same time

Well we had our 4th planned out and it was sort of put on hold when Skylar came down with the feva (we need more cow bell baby!)... jokes aside, he had a temperature of 103.7 and that is just scary to me. Although the doctor said that's nothing to be worried about. WHAT? I think so, but he said that all of us parents feel more comforted to know a magic number to be scared for when your child has a rising temperature. I was thinking as he was telling us this, that if Skylar had a temp of 106 or better yet 107, wouldn't that be alarming? Anyhoo, I just didn't like his calm and collectic way of the situation. Skylar didn't have strep, thank goodness, but another bout of a viral infection. He broke out in a tiny rash again this time as he did last time, but it was only a little version. So, we didn't go to Marion that Friday as planned, because who wants to travel with a sick child? We don't incase you were wanting to know. :) If it was a 30 minute drive, we would consider it, but 2.5 hours away? Not so much. We got a lot done though on Friday despite things. We painted the kitchen and finished the baseboards in our guest bathroom. We painted the guest bath last weekend. Here's a before and after of the kitchen. Oh, we got a new window finally to replace the broken one, so that's a nice change! :)

I didn't take pics of the guest bath, because we are getting new towel racks and such and well, it's just not done yet. :) (Side Note-Torie, I ended up going with a yellow color instead of the blue for the guest bath...I would have had to buy so much to match that new color, sooo....we went with what we could afford, ahah!)

We then went to Marion on Saturday and had Skylar dressed in his red, white and blue....a day later, but to us, that was our 4th, aha! No fireworks though!! (very sad about that) We went to Terry's grandmother's and ate good food and swam a lot (I watched a lot). I know I posted about not finding a bathing suit, so I just braved my own selction of bikinis. Good thing for me though, was that the sun wasn't out all the time, so I only got in when the sun was out and I didn't give anyone enough time to see me when I got in the water, ahah! (I was lightning fast!!) I so wished I could get away with a big white t-shirt over my bathing suit though! I need to bring that look back from the 6th grade. Skylar loved the water as you can tell below. He loves his bath time as well, so naturally he would love the big open waters of his great grandma's pool. He was loving his new float we got at Target ON SALE!! :)

All and all, we had a good weekend, considering that Skylar was sick at the beginning. I still can't believe he will be 1 this month!! How quickly time flies. He's got such long hair that my hubby wanted it cut two months ago! I think it's cute, but a little redneck, but I'm from King and Terry is from Marion, so there is nothing wrong about being a little redneck. haha...

Love, love your kitchen!!!! and the pictures of Skylar are too cute!

We've had the bug around here too. Owen had it Friday and Saturday and then I got it 10 fold. My doctor said I would probably have it for a good 7 days. ICK!

Very beautiful dining room and kitchen. I want to paint mine too but....you know $$ and the height of the ceilings are helping me procrastinate :) I love the plates over the windows! Good to see you did get some 4th fun in on saturday hope Skyler is feeling better.

The painting part is not expensive at all. :) We buy the cheap olympic paint from Lowes and they sell at low as 14 dollars. We found out that last weekend. I thought I would have to do several coats, because it's a cheaper paint, but we only did two coats and that's how much we use for the Valspar (expensive) paint. So the paint and roller pads (we already had the brushes, pans and rollers) cost us 20 even. Ooops, I bought two gallons (1 for each color), so $34 even. Not bad really. :) Now we are buying the cheap paint for now on!!
